Description

Vintage semi-glossy 10 x 8 silver gelatin photograph of Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, and Elton John taken by photographer Christopher Sykes, which shows the three musicians conversing backstage before the Rolling Stones’ performance at Hughes Stadium in Fort Collins, Colorado, on July 20, 1975. The reverse bears editorial notations in pencil and felt tip. In very good to fine condition, with light surface scuffing, and a crease to the upper right corner. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.

Despite already having two keyboardists on the payroll, Billy Preston (the only musician to have played live with both the Beatles and the Rolling Stones) and Ian Stewart, the Stones invited stateside Elton John to join them for a rendition of 'Honky Tonk Women.' However, things got tense when, after performing with the band, John decided to stay on stage for nine more songs. John, who later blamed the bold move on his cocaine problem, only departed the stage when he noticed the band's dissatisfaction. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done, and a feud between the band (namely, Keith Richards) and John persisted for four decades. At the behest of Ronnie Wood, Richards and John finally forgave each other when they were both set to appear at the GQ Awards in London on September 8, 2015.
