Appealing 5´ x 3´ nylon American flag that was flown aboard the USS Missouri (BB-63) on Memorial Day, May 31, 2010. Marked on the hoist in black felt tip: "BB63, 05-31-10, 0818." In very fine condition. Accompanied by a provenance slip from the USS Missouri Memorial Association.
The USS Missouri (BB-63), an Iowa-class battleship commissioned in 1944, served in World War II, the Korean War, and Operation Desert Storm. It is most famous as the site of Japan’s formal surrender on September 2, 1945, officially ending World War II. Decommissioned in 1992, the Missouri is now preserved as a museum ship at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
