Description

Brown leather folder used by Jimmy Carter when he operated his family’s peanut farm in Archery, Georgia, during the 1960s and 1970s. The folder, which was originally the property of his father, James Earl Carter, Sr., is marked “To-day’s Mail,” with engraved gilt initials to the front cover, “J. E. Carter.” The inside bears a stapled card with ballpoint annotations related to “Custom Grinding.” Included with the folder is a signed and handwritten letter from Rosalynn Carter, dated March 16, 1992, penned at the bottom of a letter requesting that either she or her husband authenticate the folder. Rosalynn writes: “The folder belonged to Jimmy’s father, and after he died & we came home from the Navy, Jimmy did use it in the office of our farm supply business.” In very good to fine condition, with heavy wear to the spine.
