Description

Bogen articulating support arm made by Manfrotto, Co., for use in the Spacehab service module, extended to approximately 24˝ in length, with a large central locking knob and either end terminating with a mounting bracket and an adjustable grip holder. Silver parts label to the body reads: “Spacehab-SHB1002, 501255.” In fine condition, with trivial wear. Used for science experiments, logistics, and astronaut support, Spacehab was a pressurized laboratory module flown in the Space Shuttle’s payload bay during the 1990s–2000s. NASA and its contractors often repurposed commercial gear that was rugged and flexible and modified it for flight use. In this instance, a Bogen arm would have been ideal to mount, stabilize, or position equipment (cameras, laptops, scientific payloads, checklists, etc.) in zero-G.
