Calibration mask designed for the Chandra X-Ray Observatory, measuring approximately 16˝ in diameter and 1.25˝ thick, featuring a mirror finish on one side and a black matte finish on the other. Cut into the circle are precise slots that, when placed in the telescope’s optical path, create a known pattern of X-rays on its detectors, allowing scientists to check alignment, focus, and detector performance.
