Description

Archive of approximately 850 photographs from the Viking Project originating from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, with individual images measuring from 5 x 5 to 10 x 8, plus four rolls of uncut photographs. The collection features views captured by the Viking Lander showing detailed glimpses of Mars's surface, capturing the barren, rocky Martian landscape, and showing fine details like wind-swept dust and eroded rocks. Wide-angle shots taken by the Viking Orbiter display vast plains, deep valleys, and the occasional crater, offering a comprehensive overview of the Martian planet. Many photographs have JPL Image Processing Laboratory data imprinted in the borders, with information including identification of the spacecraft, camera number, and frame number, and various data on azimuth, elevation, lines, channel, scan rate, histograms, and more. In overall fine condition.
