Boston-born Baptist minister and academic (1808-1895) best known as the lyricist of 'America' ('My Country, 'Tis of Thee'), written while he was a student at Andover Theological Seminary. Ink signature, "Samuel Francis Smith,” on an off-white 3.75 x 2.75 slip clipped from a deluxe limited edition of his poetry collection, Poems of Home and Country. In very fine condition.
