Attractive, uncommon pair of identical ‘Apple Creative Forums’ binders from the personal collection of Ron Fernandez, a former member of Apple’s Creative Services department and senior MacOS product manager for printing, type, and graphics. Each soft three-ring binder, 10.75˝ x 11.5˝, features a black background with a repeating green Apple logo leaf pattern to the front and back covers, with the front bearing off-white text: “Apple Creative Forums, Growing Great Ideas.” The binders house matching material for an event held at the Puck Building in New York City on May 30 and 31st [1990], which includes an “Event Schedule” trifold brochure, and seven tabbed sections: Seminar Speakers (such as Roger Black and Nigel Holmes), Introducing Macintosh, Electronic Studio, Product Demo Theater, Macintosh Gallery, Exhibitors, and Local Information. At the end of each binder are a dozen ‘Apple Creative Forums’ gridded stationery sheets. In overall fine condition.
Per the consignor: ‘In 1990 (I believe), Apple made a big push into the East Coast design and publishing market. Its flagship effort was Apple Creative Forums, a series of presentations and hands-on classes held in a trendy warehouse space in SoHo. I was still working remotely from Boston at the time and, by then, had produced several rounds of Macintosh teaching materials (“Approaching Macintosh” textbook in college, Creative Services training in 1986, and Aspen Design Conference classes) so I was assigned to both manage the conference, create all conference training materials, and design and format all the handout materials.’
