Description

Springfield US Model 1816 Musket, NSN, .69 caliber, 42" barrel with a dark, pitted bore. This is a Type III Model 1816 musket that has an overall dark brown patina with some gray fading at the slightly dented muzzle, and heavy pitting on the breech end of the barrel. The lock was converted from flint via an extremely long drum and nipple conversion (the drum projects a full inch proud of the barrel wall) mated to an imported commercial hammer. The walnut stock has minor handling marks and surface blemishes scattered throughout, as well as a linear chip of wood missing from the edge of the buttplate tang on the left side. The original ramrod is included and the action is fully functional, locking firmly at both full and half-cock.

This is an antique firearm and transfers with no federal restriction.

The Collection of Dr. Joseph Matheu.
