Springfield US Model 1847 Artillery Musketoon, NSN, .69 caliber, 26" barrel with a dark, pitted bore. This robust weapon has been cleaned and has an overall fairly bright gray patina with large areas of moderate-heavy pitting throughout, but heaviest on the breech portion of the barrel and on the lock. Nevertheless, the lock still has fully legible markings: "(American Eagle) / US" ahead of the hammer; "SPRING / FIELD / 1851" behind the hammer. The walnut stock has some minor handling marks and blemishes scattered about, but exhibits much less wear than the metal save for a partial crack through the toe of the butt on the right side. Brass tack decorations are present on the right side of the buttstock consisting of a line running along the edge of the buttplate, and a cross in the center of the stock. The original ramrod is included and the action is fully functional, locking firmly at both full and half-cock.
This is an antique firearm and transfers with no federal restriction.
