Description

"Calvary Officers and Soldiers must always remember that they are the eyes and ears of the General commanding"

Civil War-dated broadside issued from "Headquarters, Wheeler's Cavalry Corps," one page, 3.5 x 11, June 3, 1863. Headed "General Orders No. 7," the document stresses the accuracy of reports of enemy strength, stating that they need to probe the enemy firmly enough to get a true sense of their strength as well as question prisoners closely, while being sure to filter out rumors. In conclusion, the orders reinforce that "Calvary Officers and Soldiers must always remember that they are the eyes and ears of the General commanding." In very good to fine condition, with light staining, not affecting readability.
