Bilingual report in Swedish and English: The Official Report of the Organizing Committee for the Equestrian Games of the XVIth Olympiad. Stockholm: Esselte Aktiebolag, 1959. Hardcover with gilt-stamped titles and emblem, 8.5 x 12, 270 pages. The book, which is described as “A retrospective survey in text and pictures,” contains an abundance of images from these historic Olympic games, and the flap to the back pastedown contains two fold-out score sheets and two overhead maps. In fine condition, with light toning and rubbing to covers.
Due to Australian agricultural quarantine regulations, the equestrian events of the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne were held five months earlier in Stockholm, Sweden, making the 1956 Summer Games the second Olympics not to be held entirely in one country: the 1920 Olympics, which Antwerp, Belgium co-hosted with Amsterdam and Ostend, were the first.
