Description

Scarce original French-language booklet for the Paris 1924 Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which was held on June 25-28 and July 7-12, 1924, before and during the 1924 Parisian Summer Games. The booklet, 31 pages, 6 x 9.5, begins with an opening statement listing those attending and those absent (translated): “The International Olympic Committee held its 1924 session in Paris, at the Louvre Palace, from June 25 to July 12, under the chairmanship of Baron Pierre de Coubertin, President of the Committee.” The booklet refers to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Olympic Games, and details all of the discussions and meetings held during each day of the IOC session. In fine condition, with some light toning to the covers.

The close of the booklet contains an index and a section marked “DECISIONS, taken by the Executive Board sitting as the Honorary Jury,” which includes the board’s decision to exclude “Mr. Oreste Pulitti from the Olympic competitions.” The decision continues: “[The board] Recognizes the fact that the Italian sabre team showed solidarity with Mr. Pulitti by withdrawing from the tournament following the decision taken against him by the jury of appeal and by participating in the skirmishes which his conduct provoked; Consequently, issues a reprimand to this team; Invites the Italian Olympic Committee and the International Fencing Federation to take severe sanctions to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents.” Pulitti’s teammates were accused of attempting to inflate his score by losing to him in the final of the Men's Sabre in 1924. He was disqualified for threatening to assault a Hungarian judge, Gyorgy Kovacs.
