Sought-after complete original Swedish-language ‘Sportens Stjarnor’ Hemmets Journal issued for the Rome 1960 Summer Olympics, 4.75 x 6.5, 21 pages, containing color pictures and biographical captions for nearly 80 athletes competing at the Games of the XVII Olympiad, a group highlighted by the great Muhammad Ali, whose ‘rookie card’ is pictured on Page 6 as “23. Cassius Clay,” with the reverse bearing his printed caption (translated): “‘The new Floyd’ is the elegant 18-year-old Kentucky Negro, who won the light heavyweight title in Rome, has been christened by the experts. In common with the world boxing champion, he has the speed and innate ease of boxing. For six years he has been involved in the sport of boxing: he has fought 128 matches, of which he has won 42 by knockout. He has lost 7, but has never been knocked out. He has a fearsome left hook like Floyd but does not intend to become a professional: he has just finished high school and wants to go to university to work towards becoming an advertising artist instead.” Other notable athletes include Ingemar Johansson, Floyd Patterson, Garrincha, and many more. The book contains its original red vinyl cover with embossed title. In fine condition, with a vertical fold to left edge of many of the pages. A great opportunity to obtain a coveted Muhammad Ali ‘rookie card.’
