(Nickelodeon, 1999) Original production cels and master production background of SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star from ‘Scaredy Pants,’ episode 13a of season one of SpongeBob SquarePants, which originally aired on October 28, 1999. The cels, which show SpongeBob wearing a ghost costume and standing with a bug-eyed Patrick who has a small ghost hand-puppet, are placed on a wonderful hand-painted production background from the same film, which depicts the roof of the Krusty Krab, the site of a spooky Halloween party. Full character image measures 6.5 x 6, with overall dimensions of 12.75 x 10.5. The cels are marked as “B6” and “P8B,” and the background is marked as “S/B #109, BG-144.” In fine condition. A terrific cel and background set-up from the acclaimed first season of SpongeBob SquarePants, the show’s only season to use the traditional cel animation process. Production cels and backgrounds from the ‘golden era’ of SpongeBob remain rare and highly collectible, especially those featuring the show’s two biggest characters.
