(Nickelodeon, 1999) Original production cels of SpongeBob SquarePants and Squidward Tentacles from ‘Naughty Nautical Neighbors,’ episode 4a from the first season of SpongeBob SquarePants, placed on an attractive master production background from ‘Scaredy Pants,’ episode 13a of the show’s first season, which pictures SpongeBob walking amicably beside his nextdoor neighbor in bright full-figure poses. Character images measure 2.5 x 3.25 (SpongeBob) and 2.75 x 5 (Squidward), with overall dimensions of 13.5 x 10.75. The cels are both marked as “SB 166,” and the background is marked as “S/B #109, BG 103.” In fine condition. An exceptional cel and background set-up from the acclaimed first season of SpongeBob SquarePants, the show’s only season to use the traditional cel animation process. Production cels and backgrounds from the ‘golden era’ of SpongeBob remain rare and highly collectible.
