Description

Period photocopied letter from the London law firm Wright and Webb, sent to Malkin, Cullis, & Sumption regarding the eviction of Jimi Hendrix from his apartment at 34 Montagu Square in London on February 17, 1967. The letter, one page, 8 x 10, February 10, 1967, reads: “Referring to your letter of the 30th January, we understand from the agents that your client is still in occupation of the premises and that so many complaints have been received from other tenants that the Superior Landlords now wish to inspect the premises. In the circumstances, we must give you formal notice that unless your client has vacated these premises by Friday next the 17th February, we shall have no alter- native but to commence immediate proceedings against him for possession.” The referenced apartment was owned by Ringo Starr and was occupied by Hendrix for a short period after he moved to England. The letter bears several ink notations. In fine condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.

From the collection of Patricia ‘Trixie’ Sullivan, personal assistant to Mike Jeffery, the manager of Jimi Hendrix.
