In a career that spanned over three decades, Richard E. Aaron (1949–2016) photographed approximately 4,000 musical artists; the Frampton Comes Alive! album cover and Time magazine's Paul McCartney/Wings Over America cover are among his most recognizable works. He recalled shooting Springsteen in NYC, reflecting on this image: 'The light silhouetted his body creating an aura. I looked through the camera, which had a 50-millimeter lens attached, and knew I was witnessing one of those once-in-a-lifetime shots.'
