Four TLSs from Gerald Ford to longtime Georgia Congressman Jack Brinkley, which includes three letters as president and one letter as vice president, each signed “Jerry” or "Jerry Ford.” The presidential letters, each one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, read, in part:
June 10, 1975: “Mrs. Ford Ford and I were distressed by the news of the unfortunate accident on Friday, June 6, involving you and Mrs. Brinkley as well several other friends from the Hill. We certainly hope you will both be fully recovered from your injuries in the near future.”
July 12, 1976: “Legislative action on S. 2529, the Veterans Housing Amendments Act of 1976, has been completed, and it became Public Law 94-324 on June 30 when I signed it. I know that you expended much effort on this bill and I am sending you a ceremonial pen which I thought you would like to have as a memento of the occasion.”
November 16, 1976: “Congratulations on your reelection to the House of Representatives. It is gratifying to know that your experience and proven leadership will be instrumental in guiding the course of the 95th Congress.”
The vice presidential letter, one page, 7 x 9, Vice President letterhead, December 7, 1973, in part: “With humility and gratitude, I thank you for your confidence in confirming my nomination as Vice President of the United States. It is heartwarming to have your personal support and encouragement as I enter this new office. Naturally, I am sad at leaving the House which has been my home for nearly twenty-five years. However, fulfilling the responsibilities of the second office in our Nation is a challenge in which I will need the support and counsel of my friends in the House.” In overall fine to very fine condition. Accompanied by three original mailing envelopes.
