Federal period knapsack, circa 1820s–1840s, measuring approximately 13.5˝ x 12˝ x 3.5˝, constructed with a wooden frame covered by light blue-painted canvas, with a black-painted canvas outer flap, emblazoned with silvered initials: "N.E.D.N." The knapsack retains almost all of its original leather straps, some of which are worn or flaking. In very good condition. Accompanied by a letter from Shiloh Relics, attributing the knapsack to the collection of Norm Flayderman, author of several books including Flayderman's Guide to Antique Firearms.
