From the personal collection of Apollo 14 moonwalker Edgar Mitchell—a certificate promoting him to captain in the United States Navy, one page, 10 x 14, February 26, 1971, with autopen signatures of Vice Admiral Dick H. Guinn and Secretary of the Navy John H. Chafee at the conclusion. In part: "Know ye, that reposing special trust and confidence in the patriotism, valor, fidelity and abilities of Edgar D. Mitchell, I do, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, appoint him a Captain, United States Navy, in accordance with U. S. Const. art. II, sec. 2, cl. 2." Mounted and framed to an overall size of 18.5 x 22.5. In fine condition, with light scattered foxing.
Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Karlyn Mitchell, the daughter of Edgar Mitchell.
