Printed invitation, 5.75 x 7.5, to "the unveiling of the Nathan Hale statue" in New York City on November 25, 1893. This bronze statue, created by Frederick William MacMonnies, was the first statue dedicated to Hale. It was unveiled by the Sons of the Revolution in a ceremony in City Hall Park, where Hale’s execution is thought to have taken place. The Sons of the Revolution first assembled at Fraunces Tavern, the site where George Washington’s gave his emotional farewell on December 4, 1783. Embossed at top center is a gold and blue soldier under heraldic eagle surrounded by 13 stars, with the date 1775 below the soldier. In fine condition, with some faint toning and central horizontal fold.
