Sent from Buckingham Palace, the telegram reads: “We were so delighted to hear the splendid news of your honour, and wanted to send you our warmest congratulations. Charles and Diana.” In fine condition. Jimmy Savile became Sir Jimmy Savile when he was made a Knight Bachelor ‘for charitable services’ at the 1990 Queen's Birthday Honours held on June 15, 1990. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher had made four attempts to have him knighted before succeeding in her final year in office.
