Two letters: LS signed "J. A. Garfield," one page, 4.75 x 7.5, August 22, 1878, in part: "My illness at Atlantic City was only temporary & I shall soon be in the political campaign"; and a TLS signed "W. McKinley," one page, 5.25 x 7.5, personal letterhead, March 27, 1896, in part: "I have your favor of the 24th inst. informing me as to the action of the Illinois Lithuanian Republican Alliance; and I beg that you convey to the members of that organization my warmest thanks for their flattering expression of partiality and confidence." Matted and framed together with two FDCs to an overall size of 24 x 13. In very good to fine condition, with light dampstaining to the Garfield, and rusty paperclip impressions to the McKinley.
