Emperor of Austria and King of Bohemia, Croatia and Hungary (1830–1916) who reigned from 1848 until his death. Partly-printed invitation to go hunting at the imperial court of Franz Joseph I in Vienna, 8.25 x 5.5, dated 1898. Imprinted on the reverse is a map of the hunting area. In fine condition, with light soiling. An avid hunter, shooting was Franz Joseph's great passion; he was said to have killed a total of 55,000 game animals over the course of his long life.
