Description

Three oversized lithographs of the buildings of the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition, ranging in size from 24 x 16 to 26 x 20, including: an attractive 24 x 16 chromolithograph printed by J. Hoover, Philadelphia, 1874, showing the Art Gallery in Fairmount Park, with fine detail and sensitive use of color; a 26 x 20 lithograph printed by H. Schille of Philadelphia, 1875, showing the exterior of the main exhibition building in Fairmount Park, encircled by vignettes depicting historical moments and monuments such as the surrender of Lee, the Battle of Monmouth, Independence Hall, and so forth; and a handsome 24.5 x 19 printed by The Centennial Publishing Company, 1874, featuring a rendering of the Horticultural Hall in Fairmount Park, with a German translation at right: "Gartenbau Halle Weltausstellung." In overall very good to fine condition, with minor corner loss to one of the prints, and a bit of scattered foxing and staining.
