German-born conductor and composer (1876-1962) who worked closely with Gustav Mahler and is widely considered to be one of the great conductors of the 20th century. Three items: an AMQS on an off-white 4.25 x 3.25 sheet, which is signed in bold fountain pen by Bruno Walter, who adds the date, “December 1932,” and several bars of unknown work; a vintage pearl-finish 5 x 7 photo of Bruno by Nelly's of Athens, signed and inscribed in white ink, “To Mr. and Mrs. Milton L. Berliner, sincerely devoted, Bruno Walter, New York, 15th April 1939”; and an ALS, two pages, 5.75 x 8.75, Great Northern Hotel letterhead, March 31, 1925, in part: “I am very sorry not to be able to comply with your wish – there is no photograph more left – I spent all I had brought with me. But I will not omit to thank you for your kind letter the sincerity of which I appreciated quite so highly as its warm and heartfelt expression of your love for art.” Walter adds a brief postscript: “Leaving tomorrow for Europe.” In overall very good to fine condition, with a scratch, and some silvering, to the photo.
