American soldier and statesman (1838-1926), grandson of the founder of the DuPont gunpowder and chemical fortune, who won the Medal of Honor for his service during the Civil War and who later served as a railroad executive and senator from Delaware. Two documents: a DS, signed “H. du Pont,” one page, 13.25 x 9.5, December 1, 1887, being a bond of the Wilmington and Northern Railroad Company in the amount of $500, signed at the conclusion by Henry Algernon du Pont as the company's president; and a DS signed "H. du Pont," one page, 9.75 x 14.75, August 1, 1892, being a bond of the the Wilmington and Northern Railroad Company in the amount of $1000, signed at the conclusion by Henry Algernon du Pont as the company's president. Both with attached extension contracts. In overall fine condition.
