Fantastic group of five original vintage color glossy 5 x 3.5 candid photographs taken on the deck of the USS Intrepid following successful recovery of Gemini 3 astronauts Gus Grissom and John Young, showing both astronauts, the recovery helicopter, and the recovered 'Molly Brown' spacecraft. All have "A Kodak Paper" watermarks on the reverse. Also includes a recovery cover with a stamped cachet honoring the U.S. Navy Recovery Force, postmarked on board the USS Intrepid on the recovery date of March 23, 1965, with accompanying letter on USS Intrepid letterhead, dated "Somewhere at Sea," March 22, 1963: "I am sending you this stamped envelope as it someday may be a collector's item." In overall fine condition.
