Description

Original unused and unfolded dust jacket for the first edition, first printing of Pirates of Venus by Edgar Rice Burroughs, 18 x 7.5, published by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., in 1934. The jacket features imaginative cover art showing a winged creature carrying a beautiful damsel by J. Allen St. John. In fine condition, with a fold to one edge of the spine. Consignor notes that this originates from the printer's vault, where two mint copies of each dust jacket were kept on file in case they had to be reprinted.

Pirates of Venus by Edgar Rice Burroughs is the first novel in the Venus (Amtor) series, blending adventure, romance, and science fiction. It follows the protagonist Carson Napier, who, after a miscalculated space journey, crash-lands on Venus—a planet filled with exotic landscapes, strange creatures, and warring civilizations. Carson becomes embroiled in daring escapades, including battles with pirate-like adversaries, while seeking love and survival in this vividly imagined world.
