New Jersey politician (1709–1780) who served as a delegate to the Continental Congress from 1774 to 1776, signing the Continental Association; the great-great-grandfather of the celebrated author of the same name. Manuscript DS, signed “Step'n Crane,” one page, 3.75 x 9.5, circa 1765. Document listing a "Bill of Costs" in a legal case amounting to £2.11.3, signed at the conclusion by Crane. In fine condition, with a small hole touching one word of text. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services.
