Description

Two items: a partial DS signed at the conclusion by Richard Rodgers, one page, 8.5 x 7.5, no date, which consists of the concluding page of an agreement document between Rodgers and music publisher the T. B. Harms Company; and a TLS signed by Oscar Hammerstein, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, May 2, 1949, sent to noted theater producer Gilbert Miller, in full: “This note is sent to you in the hope that it will underscore a request that I sent you on March 17th. At that time I asked you if you would not at least renew the contribution you had made in other years to the National Conference of Christians and Jews. This organization quietly and most effectively is spreading the gospel of understanding and cooperation among the people of this country. For the last two years it has extended its work so that now it operates in many European countries. It must have money to carry on its ever growing program. You were good enough to contribute $200. when the Conference appealed to you before. Won't you at least repeat this gift now? Please accept my thanks in anticipation.” In overall fine condition. Accompanied by a copy of Miller’s reply.
