Description

Two TLSs signed "Joan Crawford," each one page, both 6.25 x 7, personal letterhead. Both were sent to Diana Novissimo at Dodge Vocational High School in New York City regarding an interview request. The first, dated March 13, 1957, in full: "Thank you so much for your charming letter of March 7th, and how sweet of you to want to interview me. I would have been delighted to accede to your request were it not for the fact that I am going out of town very shortly with my husband, and do not expect to be in New York for more than a day or two at a time during the next two months. However, if you would like to send me a list of questions, and leave a space for my answers below each question, I would be more than pleased to try and give you the information you want."

The second, dated March 28, 1957, in full: "Thank you so much for your sweet letter, and I am so sorry that by addressing my previous letter to you at school confusion was caused. I am happy to send you herewith the answers to your questions, and hope they will prove adequate. I shall also be delighted to send you an autographed photograph. It will go forward to you under separate cover. Bless you, and I wish you every success in your career."

Accompanied by the first letter's original mailing envelopes and the aforementioned typed questions and answers in which Crawford cites hard work, complete dedication, as well as "self-discipline, self-control, exercising and dancing" as keys to being a successful actress. In very good condition, with scattering soiling and toning with irregular blocks of toning on one letter.
