Original matte-finish 16 x 13.25 silver gelatin photograph of the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens, Greece, during the award ceremony of the Athens 1896 Olympics, the first international Olympic Games held in modern history. The photo depicts a packed stadium with spectators filling the opposing grandstands, with numerous officials, press, and musicians pictured on and around the field and track. The photo is affixed to its original 22.25 x 17.75 cardstock mount, which is signed in ink by two unidentified persons. In very good to fine condition, with minor loss to the upper left corner, and a tear to the right edge, both easily matted out if desired.
