Hardcover bound in brown calf with dark brown boards, 5.25 x 8.5, 604 pages. In good condition, with light edge toning to the detached first page and the front board neatly detached.
Reflections on the Decline of Science in England, and on Some of its Causes (1830) by Charles Babbage critiqued the state of scientific advancement in England and examines reasons for its stagnation. Babbage argued that nepotism, lack of government support, and an outdated scientific establishment were hindering progress. He advocated for reforms, including increased transparency, merit-based positions, and better funding for research to rejuvenate scientific innovation in the country.
