Attractive group of eight original watercolor concept designs for costumes to be used in the 1911 play Kismet, written by Edward Knoblock and produced by Oscar Asche at the Garrick Theatre, London, debuting on April 19, 1911; the play ran for 330 performances in London, later opened in the United States, and was adapted for the 1953 musical of the same name. The eight original paintings are accomplished on 10 x 12.25 artist's boards, depicting costumes for: three for "Mr. Oscar Asche" in the lead role of Hajj; "Miss Lily Brayton" as Marsinah, Hajj's daughter; "Miss Suzanne Sheldon" as Kut-al-Kulub; "4 Archers"; "4 Ethiopians"; and "Abu Bakr." Includes a 13-page typescript documenting the costumes needed for each scene, and a related manuscript cast listing. In overall very good to fine condition.
