"President Kennedy has been shot"—original teletype reports from November 22, 1963

Twelve clipped original news teletype bulletins covering the arrest and shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald, ranging in size from 8.5 x 2.75 to 8.5 x 17.5, with the longest beginning: "President Kennedy has been shot. He was shot as his motorcade was moving along on the outskirts of Dallas. A presidential aide, Lawrence O'Brien, says he has no information on whether the president is alive. Texas Governor John Connally was also shot. It isn't known yet whether he is still alive. When the president was shot, Mrs. Kennedy jumped and grabbed him. She cried 'Oh no.' The Secret Service ordered the motorcade to speed on to the nearby Parkland Hospital...The president apparently was shot in the head. He fell face down in the back seat of the car. Blood was on his head."

The shorter clips continue to chronicle the tragedy:

- "The Senate has recessed. It said it was doing so pending developments in the shooting of President Kennedy in Dallas."
- "President Kennedy has been reported taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas. That's near the Dallas Trade Mart where he was scheduled to make a speech."
- "President Kennedy has been given blood transfusions in Parkland Hospital in Dallas. The transfusions were given in an effort to save the president's life after he and Texas Governor John Connally were shot."
- "The Secret Service says President Kennedy remains in the emergency room at the hospital while Governor Connally was moved to the general operating room. One Secret Service man was overheard telling another that there was no need to move the president because emergency facilities were entirely adequate in the emergency room."
- "Representative Albert Thomas of Texas says he had been informed that both President Kennedy and Governor John Connally of Texas are still alive."
- "Governor John Connally of Texas has undergone an operation for a gunshot wound in the chest. His condition was said to be serious. He underwent surgery at 1:30 P.M. Central Standard Time. Although Connally was described as being not out of the woods, his doctor said his vital signs were good."
- "Two Roman Catholic priests have been summoned to the emergency room where the president is. A White House spokesman said someone had asked for the priests."
- "A reporter asked Presidential Assistant Kenneth O'Connell [sic] if President Kennedy was dead. O'Donnell gave no answer."
- "The New York Stock Exchange closed today at 2:10 P.M. EST. It was closed for the rest of the day by order of the board of governors. The market re-acted with a violent downturn on news that President Kennedy had been shot."
- "President Kennedy's body was removed from Parkland Hospital at 2:05 P.M. Central Standard Time. It was carried in an ambulance with curtains tightly drawn."
- "Police now say President Kennedy was assassinated by a shot fired from a warehouse. The entire building has been evacuated. A Dallas policeman says police found the remains of a fried chicken and paper on the fifth floor. They said the sniper was apparently there for some time. The Secret Service said the assassin apparently used a high-powered Army or Japanese rifle of about 25 caliber. They said the rifle had a scope on it."

In overall very good to fine condition, with overall blocks of toning from prior display, and some fading to the text.
