Revolutionary War-dated journal of American Patriot soldier Jared Lane, 4 x 6.5, inscribed on the front leaf in ink, “Jared Lane His Jurn’l of Three Months Camp’n, Began the 19th of Dec’r 1776.” Of the journal’s 14 total pages, Lane’s handwritten daily accounts are penned on the first six and dated between December 19, 1776, “Day marched to Browns at Abing’ton, 12 [miles],” and March 25, 1777, “To Dugles, 34 miles & ½.” For most days, Lane makes note of the scheduled destination, the distance of miles walked, and the poor winter weather that hampered their entire trek.
