Vintage pearl-finish 6 x 8 photo of Robert Ripley standing in front of the Church of the Nativity, a basilica located in Bethlehem, signed and inscribed in black ink, "To my unknown friend, Martha Mowbray, with all good wishes for a Merry Xmas, from Ripley, Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem.” In his own hand, Ripely annotated the reverse with further information: "The stable where Mary came 20 centuries ago, a silver star marks the spot where the manger stood. The small door behind me is the only entrance. It was made so small to prevent Mohammedans from riding in on horseback." In fine condition, with trimmed edges slightly affecting Ripley's notation on the back. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.
