Neat Civil War-era ink signature, "T. J. Jackson, Maj. Genl.,” on an off-white 2.5 x 1 slip, affixed to a slightly larger card. In fine condition. The inclusion of his rank dates this signature to the Civil War: Jackson was promoted to major general on October 7, 1861, and given command of the Valley District, with headquarters in Winchester. After being shot at Chancellorsville and losing his arm to amputation, he would die of pneumonia on May 10, 1863. Encapsulated and graded by PSA/DNA as "NM-MT 8."
