Pair of lightweight Rocky 911 Series Launch Entry Suit (LES) boots issued as flight-ready for a journey to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis orbiter for the STS-129 mission. The black leather-and-canvas mid-calf-length boots feature Vibram soles and retain their original laces, and the heel of the left foot bears an affixed yellow label marked “S/N 5012, 8.5 M.” The boots are sealed in their deaccession bag with affixed labels, one of which is struck through in red felt tip and marked “III.” Includes a NASA Excess Transportation Document, with an excess date of April 5, 2021, and a “JSC Project Parts” tag also marked “III,” which reads: “Part Number SED 33104554-305, [8.5 M], S/N 5012, Part Name Rocky Boot Assy Lightweight LES,” with the lower portion of the attached FCE 911 Report annotated “STS0129 PIA Complete, Per CE927615 MS-S Down…9/3/09,” “OK for flight per 1027, USA 35461/STS-129…10/7/09,” and “OK to Ship to KSC, C+C…10/9/09.” In fine condition, with a slice to the deaccession bag. Launched on November 16, 2009, STS-129 was the last shuttle mission of the 2000s. The mission focused on staging spare components outside the ISS, and the 11-day flight included three spacewalks. The payload bay carried two large ExPRESS Logistics Carriers holding two spare gyroscopes, two nitrogen tank assemblies, two pump modules, an ammonia tank assembly, a spare latching end effector for the station's robotic arm, a spare trailing umbilical system for the Mobile Transporter, and a high-pressure gas tank. STS-129 was the first flight of an ExPRESS Logistics Carrier. RR Auction is unable to determine if these boots were actually flown to the ISS.
