Civil War-dated $1000 Confederate States of America loan bond issued March 1, 1864, 17 x 27.75, retaining 59 interest coupons below. Signed at the conclusion by Charles A. Rose, the Assistant Register of the Confederate Treasury, who was appointed in 1863 and served until the end of the war. Tape-affixed to a cardboard mount and in very good to fine condition, with scattered staining and soiling. Considered one of the most attractive Confederate bonds, the vignette at the head of the pink-hued document features the Confederate Seal, which contains an image of George Washington on horseback.
