American physician and politician (born 1745) who served as a surgeon during the Revolution, as a South Carolina congressman, and later as the Treasurer of the United States from 1801 until his death in 1828, establishing a record as the longest-serving Treasurer. Hand-addressed mailing envelope, 4.75 x 3.75, filled out in another hand and addressed to “Enoch G. Parrott, Esq., Navy Agent, Portsmouth, N.H.,” boldly franked above, “free, Th. T. Tucker.” Docketing to reverse indicates that the envelope contained a letter with “Draft No. 5969 drawn on Warrant No. 843,” dated April 1, 1823. In fine condition. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder, grading the autograph as "MINT 9."
