Five items signed by justices of the Hughes Court, including: Charles Evans Hughes (signature), Pierce Butler (signature), James Clark McReynolds (signature on a Supreme Court memo slip), George Sutherland (signature on Supreme Court card), and Willis Van Devanter (TLS). The Van Devanter letter is noteworthy in that it makes a typographical correction to the official printing of the opinion in "United States v. Barnes." In overall very good to fine condition, with a block of toning to the Hughes card, and minor paper loss to the edge of the McReynolds page. A desirable lot including all of the 'Four Horsemen'—Butler, McReynolds, Sutherland, and Van Devanter—the conservative block which dominated the Supreme Court during the 1930s.
