An American track and field athlete and a writer, Clark (1874-1949) was the first modern Olympic champion in high jump and long jump, and the only person to have won both Olympic events; he did so at the Athens 1896 Summer Olympics. He was inducted into the USATF Hall of Fame in 1991.
