Two photos signed by Charles Evans Hughes—a vintage matte-finish 7.25 x 10.5 portrait by the Harris & Ewing Studio, signed in the lower border in fountain pen, "Sincerely yours, Charles E. Hughes, Feb. 2, 1923"; and a 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait of Hughes by the Pach Bros. Studio, signed in the lower border in fountain pen, "Charles E. Hughes, Dec. 15th, 1909," with the reverse bearing a "Collection of Americana, Frederick H. Meserve" stamp. In overall very good to fine condition, with moderately heavy silvering to the large photo. Accompanied by a transmittal letter from the State of New York, Executive Chamber, forwarding the two offered photos on December 15, 1909, which dates to Hughes's tenure as the 36th Governor of New York.
