Grammy nomination plaque, 8.75 x 10.75, presented to sound engineer Geoff Emerick by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences "in recognition of Nomination for the Best Engineered Recording (Non-Classical), 'Band on the Run,' Paul McCarthy & Wings, for the awards period 1974." The black-bordered plaque bears the facsimile signature of the Academy's national president, Bill Lowery. In fine condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks, noting that it originates from the estate of Geoff Emerick, who would go on to win the Grammy for his work on Band on the Run.
Emerick worked with the Beatles on their albums Revolver (1966), Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), and Abbey Road (1969). Producer George Martin credited him with bringing 'a new kind of mind to the recordings, always suggesting sonic ideas, different kinds of reverb, what we could do with the voices.' He continued to work with McCartney following the Beatles' break-up, serving as recording engineer for Band on the Run (1973), London Town (1978), Tug of War (1982), and Flaming Pie (1997).
