The Pennsylvania Packet or the General Advertiser, March 4, 1779; printed and sold by John Dunlap. Landmark "Act for the gradual abolition of Slavery" in General Assembly in Pennsylvania. Ultimately, the legislation was enacted. [It was the first act abolishing slavery in the course of human history to be adopted by a democracy.] Extract of letter from General Washington respecting the attempt of the enemy on the port of Elizabeth-Town. Letter from General Benedict Arnold concerning attack on his character, accompanied by report from Congress, concerning the Board of War’s rejection of the complaint against General Arnold dated May 23, 1777.
