Appealing metal statuette commemorating the launch of the Sputnik 1, the world’s first artificial satellite, which was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on October 4, 1957. The statuette, which stands 1.75″ in height, bears a miniature Sputnik attached to the word “мир,” or ‘Peace,’ with the 2″ diameter base featuring a raised globe showing the Soviet Union and engraved text: “4. X. 1957. CCCP.” In fine condition.
