Charles Conrad's flown sterling silver Gemini 5 Fliteline medallion, approximately 1″ diameter, with a raised design of the "8 Days or Bust" mission insignia on the front, and the reverse engraved: "August 21-29, 1965," and hallmarked "Sterling" at the bottom. Includes the original maroon plastic Fliteline case. Condition is mint state, with some minor tarnishing to edges and reverse. Accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from Conrad, in part: "This sterling silver Gemini 5 medallion flew in space from August 21 to 29, 1965. Gemini 5 was my first space mission and the second for Gordon Cooper who was mission commander…This medallion became a part of history when we completed the record breaking eight day flight. Our successful completion of Gemini 5 marked the beginning of the U.S. lead in manned space exploration. The medallion is from my personal collection." Conrad made his space-flying debut on Gemini 5, with this silver medallion one of a purported 100 to have joined him and Gordon Cooper in orbit.
